Domestic violence attack ensues during waning Thanksgiving hours

The holidays can be a time to attend parties and enjoy the company of friends and family members, but they can also provide people in Ohio with opportunities to engage in behavior that may not normally participate in. Sometimes the holiday hubbub and intimate events with friends and family members promote altercations, and in some cases a person involved in an altercation can wind up with a domestic violence charge.

This is the story of a young man who was the victim of an alleged violent attack from his transient girlfriend. Law enforcement officers arrived at the young man’s apartment where he reported that he had been clawed in the face and chest. The young man told law enforcement officers that his girlfriend had been drinking and that the attack was unprovoked.

Upon further investigation, the law enforcement officers discovered that the girlfriend was hiding in a neighbor’s bedroom. The young man had cuts on his body that he reported were from his girlfriend’s attack. None of the injuries that the young man sustained required urgent attention, but the young woman was arrested for the attack. It is unknown if the young man formally pressed domestic violence charges.

The holidays provide many people with opportunities to visit friends and family members and to enjoy festivities together. There are, however, occasions when holiday gatherings provide a time and a place for family issues to arise. When a person makes a domestic violence complaint against a friend or family member, it may be helpful for both parties to speak with experienced attorneys.
