An officer with an Ohio police department has recently been accused of engaging in criminal activity and is also facing disciplinary action from his department superiors. The man and his wife have been arrested and charged with drug possession. The couple is now awaiting further court proceedings in this matter.
It has not been reported as to what led to the police filing charges or conducting a search of the couple's home. The man, who is 56, was purportedly arrested while still at work. His wife was taken into police custody later while she was in their home.
According to the reports, marijuana was discovered at the residence, as were other unidentified substances. These items have been sent out for further testing. The officer has also been subjected to a review by his employer's disciplinary board in light of the allegations that have been lodged against him.
The man has reportedly been found to have violated six different conduct rules in connection to the criminal charges, and the review board has scheduled a hearing for later in July. The man and his 50-year-old wife are now likely focused on how best to fight the drug possession charges that have been filed against them. They are guaranteed the right to be presumed innocent of criminal activity and they are ensured the opportunity to challenge the validity of any evidence that may be presented by the Ohio prosecutor's office. In addition, they may explore all avenues of defense as well as educate themselves concerning what options may provide the best resolution to the circumstances they are currently facing.
